Victoria Southworth, JD

Practice

Victoria began practicing with LMB in 2019.  Prior to law school, she knew she wanted to work in an area of law involving children. Under the wing of her then-professor, Mary Beck, Victoria learned how to navigate adoption and surrogacy law and joined the firm as an attorney immediately after becoming licensed.

Victoria practices all facets of adoption and surrogacy law including, but not limited to:  adoption, stepparent adoptions, second-parent adoptions, guardianship, surrogacy actions, surrogacy agreements, and gamete donation agreements. Victoria is especially passionate about confirming parental rights for LGBTQ+ families.

Education

University of Missouri School of Law (2019), Juris Doctorate

Lee University (2015), Bachelor’s of Arts, Liberal Studies (Communications & Counseling)

Personal

Victoria jokes that she took the “scenic route” to becoming an attorney. In 2002, she was devastated to learn that she was too short to follow her childhood dream of becoming an Air Force pilot. The fourteen years that followed were filled with milestones of family building, a career in banking, and the slow-but-steady progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree.  In 2016 she left her decade long career in finance to become an attorney so she can advocate for all types of families.

Victoria is married to Marc, and has three human children and three fur-babies. She enjoys photography, thrives on coffee, and strives to advocate for her neurodiverse family.
